John Lennon referred to Faul as Faux Paul. I read that in a book about John by Ray Coleman, I believe...
It seems like William Campbell is from Scotland, altho some people think he might be from Ontario b/c of the OPP badge on the Sgt uniform (Ontario Provincial Police).
It also seems like there was more than one "Faul," altho it seems like Bill was the more or less permanent one...

i heard that he was from campbeltown scotland. faul has a farm in scotland. google paul mccartney in scotland. in 1969 reporters went to his hideout farm in because of the pid rumor.

Yeah, I personally think Faul is from Scotland. It's hard to know for sure, tho. Paul bought a farm in Scotland shortly before he died. Faul just took it over like everything else. I guess it was better for him to stay in Scotland away from the scene so that fewer people would figure out he wasn't Paul.
